Can you use premix fire mortar instead of mixing your own? I’m having a hard time locating the different components to mix.

You can use premixed fire mortar as long as it is a dry mix. Anything wet that comes in a bucket is not suitable for outdoor use.
If you look in the BrickWood Resource Locator you should find some sources for masonry supply outlets. Bring the instructions along with you and they should be able to help you with a suitable, food-safe mortar.
